Scripted

I made some notes today for a voice blog earlier. But it just all felt so forced, all 10 recording attempts. It’s because it was all so scripted. Instead, I’ve decided to just post up a quick short blog post on what’s been happening.

First up, I’d like to point out that we’ve updated the site slightly. I’ve coded in a little Sneak-Peek mini-gallery for fun. In here we’ve dumped a few sneak peaks at our latest Clarence pages and sketches as well as some work from our upcoming new co_OKiE comic, to be titled ‘Workaholic’ in which we’d decided to place cookie in an office environment. I’m hoping that people will find this comic just as enjoyable as the previous.

Chances are co_OKiE will be out sometime within the next 3 months or so. It’s on hold as Shari works on the last scene of The Clarence Principle. Details on Clarence will be broadcast once it’s finished, with estimates of its release in book format. I’ll take this opportunity to clear something up here actually, as we’ve been getting a lot of e-mails for a while now with people asking when are we going to update Clarence. It’s not a webcomic I’m afraid and it never will be. It’s a graphic novel project we’re aiming to get published and out for people to buy as a book. Keep an eye on the site for when that finally happens.

Going back to co_OKiE, I’d just like to point out that the new book will be on sale via Sweatdrop Studios, much like the current one. Also, a cool and confirmed detail here for you, as we signed a deal with a clothing label, called MaMoo (which stands for MangaMoods), to produce co_OKiE T-shirts. Those will be launched at the London Expo later in October ‘06 and then after that they’ll be making their way to select stores as well as be available online for sale. More details on that to come later this month.

Moving back to the website, just thought I’d also mention we’ve updated the forum a bit. Shuffled a few things around and skinned it to finally match our main website. The forums are a part of the site that we’ve neglected a lot. We make bunnies cry with our poor forum skills. We suck. However, we are trying to get back on top of things.

Kelsie's SurpriseKelsie, our friend from Seattle, sent us little pressies! She made us business cards using our website bunnies and they look ace! She made them with a home-made business card kit. Shari and I loved them so much, we kind of don’t want to give them away XD but I decided to remake the cards in a hi-res layouts so we can get professionaly printed sets of them.

Thanks Kelsie ^_^

My First ODEO Voice Blog

I decided to start a Podcast finally, after having an ODEO account for ages and never using it. Hoping to get Shari into this too later (ho ho ho). I hope I can keep this up and do it often and I may actually bother to prepare some stuff to chat about properly, rather than just randomly blogging.

Something worth saying?

Sometimes I wish I had more to say on this site. Shari doesn’t post often because she’s busy working on projects, but also, lately, when she does have something to say, it’s too private to be posted on this site, which is totally understandable. Some things are just not for the general public. It’s not often we have anything worth saying really. We’re generally very quiet people.

I don’t read many blogs online anymore (Shari reads too many, oh ho ho ho). I normally just stick to my LJ Friends list and the occasional news feed. One blog I do frequently check is BinaryBonsai.com, pointed out to me by Shari. I have a lot of respect towards the author, Michael Heilemann, and I really enjoy the way he writes and the discussions he brings up. I kind of hope his tact might rub off on me.

totally off-subject, it’s funny, but no matter how hard you try to not act like a fan-boy in anyway, it just doesn’t work. I can’t find the comment now, but I distinctly remember leaving a comment on that site where I was trying to debate something Michael had written, but just ended up not really bringing my point across too well because it sounded more like babbling by the time I finished. I think I tried to salvage it by replying to another comment, but I felt I just dug a deeper hole.

I did a similar thing when I was at London Expo a couple of years back, waiting in line to get Andy Serkis to autograph a photo for Shari. I stood there watching everyone else get all excited once they started talking to him and I was just thinking - When it’s your turn, don’t do or say anything stupid! Just get in there, say hello, shake him by the hand, ask him to sign the photo, compliment him a little, then leave. Got it? Good.

But is that what happened? Did I keep my cool? Fuck no! Cue speedy babbling of words:

Fehed: Hi, nice to finally meet you. *shakes hand* I really enjoyed your work. I especially liked your role in the british movie Deathwatch *this was me trying to look smart by showing that I knew him from more than just Lord of the Rings*
Andy: Oh, thanks very much.
Fehed: I’m actually here mainly on behalf of my friend in thailand, she’s a big fan, especially of your work in Lord of the Rings, you know, I should really hate you actually - *omg I didn’t just say that did I?*
Andy: *nod nod*
Fehed: cos she’s watched those movies like a million times, it drove me crazy! she can’t make it all the way here obviously, cos she lives in thailand *argh!! shutup already!!*, but yeah, I’d like you to sign this for her, thanks.
Andy: What’s her name?
Fehed: Shari.
Andy: *actually spoke as he signed* Hey there Shari, all the best, Andy Serkis.
Fehed: Thank you very much *shakes hand* keep up the great work *… I’m a dork*

It was really much worse than this because of the way I acted. My body language and facial expressions… geez, I got really theatrical, for lack of a better word. Did you notice how I did all the talking there?
