I was *this* close to buy mac mini
Published by Shari 3 years, 3 months ago
but I didn’t because…
1. I want RAM at least 512MB, but the only way to get that is to pay 5000 baht more for 512 RAM stick because mac mini has only one slot and the shop won’t buy back the 256 that come with it, that mean I would be left with useless 256 mac RAM that I cannot use anyway, and the price would sky rocketing to 30,000 baht…
2. I want Tiger, but that’s another 5000 baht to pay…
3. I want mac keyboard, and that’s really expensive for just a keyboard.
4. mac mini has only one audio output, which mean I can not use my 5.1 cambridge soundworks…
5. mac mini has only 2 USB port, I need USB port for at lease printer, scanner AND wacom tablet…
6. chances are that my scanner might not work with mac..
7. Lineage II doesnt have mac version.. < -- this isnt really important, I can always keep pc for just playing game..
I wanted it so much, I tried and tried to work it out, but there’s really no way I can buy and use mac effectively unless I have more money ;_; damn me for being such a poor fool..
ps. 1$ ~= 38-40 baht

are you thai? you live in Thailand?
yup, I’m Thai, living in Thailand.
Hey Shari… it’s been a while.
I got myself a Mini. I can inform you at least with Tiger… it’s now included with all Macs, that’s how it works.
When you get a Apple keyboard it further extends the two USB ports with another one… so, that helps a little bit, hehe.
Finally… I paid about 6000baht for a 1GB RAM stick. It should be possible in Bkk too, if you look carefully. 512MB is less than 2500baht here, which I also bought, but that’s for another machine.
But still, yes it might be the least expensive Mac ever but it is an expensive machine!
I was in Bangkok a few weeks ago and noticed that the prices seems to have gone up. The last time I was there, there prices were similar to the US. And now, it appears that it is more official with Apple stores.
whats a mac mini?
Shari, where to go in bkk to buy one? I live in koh tao and planing to go to bkk next week for this purpose. I know there is an apple store in panthip plaza. but it’s bangkok, there must be somwhere else to go.
George, I bought mine from pantip plaza, I think there’s also apple shop in new mall Siam Paragon (just next to siam center) and IT mall fortune tower (never been there) and one apple autorized dealer in Seri Center (next to seacon square) that’s all the apple in Bangkok I know!
